Several friends pushing babies into this world lately, so I thought I would wrap up the AYSI challenge with accomplishing the personal task of having baby cards to send also. Multi-tasking is part of my soul…what can I say.
Here is what the AYSI sketch challenge looked like this week:
I think some of the girls (designers were grumbling about this one because they were having trouble with it.
I can’t say that it came together quickly and I think that is due to some of my “detour” during my creative process.
I did have it narrowed down to “baby” and I also went looking for a good color challenge and came across the Friday Mashup which was Crumb Cake, Coastal Cabana, and Real Red – perfect for my boy card, so just had to alter slightly for a girl card – I can do that.
Here is how it all came together for the boy card:
And the girl card just swapped out the blue for a pink:
I didn’t think January was a typical baby pushing month…if it’s cold where you are it may be a good baby making month… I can see that.
Have you noticed more babies being born? Or is it just me?

Wow – 20 weeks of As You See It brings with it time to do a bit of re-evaluation. The design team and I had to get honest about how this is going and whether we want to continue. The great news (I think) is that everyone is really keen to continue designing for the challenge. I am going to make a commitment to myself to do more of my designing sans last minute. Before I forget let me mention that the timeline for linking to your projects is changing just slightly – Challenges will still be going up on Friday morning, but you will need to get your project done and linked by Wednesday evening. If you’ve been coming in just under the wire, I’m sorry to say that you’re wire just moved :S I hope you will be able to adjust and continue to play along with us.
On to the challenge…
Yep, it’s a sketch challenge. With a few great elements for layering. Here is what I came up with:
It seems that I must be sending out and using up birthday cards, ’cause all of a sudden I’m in need of some birthday cards. I knew I wanted to showcase a couple of Sale-a-bration products for the sweet banner…and the Birthday Basics DSP went along to make a super fun and simple card. I wonder….if I need birthday cards, maybe you do too? I’ll be putting together a class in the next month to get you a stash of birthday cards too 🙂
Did you have a great holiday and new year? We certainly have! This is the first time (in we can’t remember how long) that we have not had a schedule or places to go or people to see or anything at all to do. This has been a real staycation for us – thank goodness, ’cause we’ve needed it.
The first of the year marks the end of my December daily…to see all that we have been up to and to see my photos you can check out www.justforme365.wordpress.com that is where I keep my photos. I have been printing out many of the photos throughout the month and have been adding them to my Stampin’ Up pocket pages (so easy!) Just need to print off my last batch and then I’ll share the whole book (watch for that soon).
Our family always does a family photo on the first of the year, so I thought that would be the last page in my book.
For my page I used both the As You See It theme challenge this week and the sketch from the Paper Craft Crew Challenge.
So, here is all that put together –
What do you think? Do we look rested and ready to take on a new year? I hope so! Have a great 2014 everyone!
I had every intention of creating a digital page out of the sketch for the As You See It Challenge this week, but my cardstock was calling my name.
All those boxes are just dying to be filled with photos and journalling…will have to do that later this week me thinks. But, for now I have made a super cute Santa Puzzle card.
My son Liam saw it when it was almost done and he said it was like a puzzle. I agreed…a Santa puzzle.
I’m singing carols in my head, I’m dashing through the snow, I’m shopping for heavens sake….I think I must be getting into the holiday spirit. So, while I’ve got Christmas on the brain I can’t help but make Christmas cards out of every sketch I see.
This weeks AS You See It sketch challenge is SUPER adaptable and I couldn’t help but use it in two different ways (plus lots more ideas in my head).
They both (of course) are Christmas cards. I only brought out a couple decorations for an event last weekend, but they made a festive background for the photos I think.
My favourite piece on this card is the bow with the rouched ends.
And I had so much fun with that ribbon I had to use MORE ribbon.
A sweet way to use up some ribbon ends or scraps of paper or whatnot. Add a tag and your done. Awesome!
I just can’t decide which is my favourite…
Hope you will play along with us at http://www.asyouseeitchallenge.com
Work and family commitments are in over-drive and I can’t get out of first gear! Unfortunately I do not have time for chit chat….on with the projects.
As You See It Challenge 013 this week is an exciting new challenge…
Whatever your favourite stamp set is…use it!
I used Hello There digital stamp brushes to make two projects (because that is how committed I am…oh, and it was a requirement of our design team). I used the stamps, paper, and embellishments to make my first digital card, and a 12×12 page.
So, what’s your favourite stamp set?
I am right in the thick of designing and creating Christmas cards. I am pleased to report that they are easier this year than last. Maybe its the stamps, maybe its my practice, maybe I’ve found my style, maybe I’ve got some creative mojo happening. Whatever it is…I like it 🙂
The As You See It sketch challenge #12 was my inspiration for this Christmas card.
I stuck really closely to the sketch this week. Here’s my take ->
I kept the elements all really simple but they all go together so nicely I think.
