SAB Sneakie peekie

I  will need to go “back in time” a smidgen and wish everyone happy holidays when I have a few more minutes.  Today I just wanted to quickly share my (late) project for he AYSI challenge.  Next year we will have the timing a bit better figured out. This year we have a sketch challenge for you to enjoy… if you are tired of Christmas cards it’s time to pull out something new and bright!

Santa Puzzle

I had every intention of creating a digital page out of the sketch for the As You See It Challenge this week, but my cardstock was calling my name.

All those boxes are just dying to be filled with photos and journalling…will have to do that later this week me thinks.  But, for now I have made a super cute Santa Puzzle card.

My son Liam saw it when it was almost done and he said it was like a puzzle. I agreed…a Santa puzzle.

Getting into the spirit

I’m singing carols in my head, I’m dashing through the snow, I’m shopping for heavens sake….I think I must be getting into the holiday spirit.  So, while I’ve got Christmas on the brain I can’t help but make Christmas cards out of every sketch I see.

This weeks AS You See It sketch challenge is SUPER adaptable and I couldn’t help but use it in two different ways (plus lots more ideas in my head).

They both (of course) are Christmas cards.  I only brought out a couple decorations for an event last weekend, but they made a festive background for the photos I think.

My favourite piece on this card is the bow with the rouched ends.

And I had so much fun with that ribbon I had to use MORE ribbon.

A sweet way to use up some ribbon ends or scraps of paper or whatnot. Add a tag and your done.  Awesome!

I just can’t decide which is my favourite…

Hope you will play along with us at http://www.asyouseeitchallenge.com

Advent

Yah, I noticed it was December…thanks for mentioning it.  While we were away on the weekend, we did not drop off the Earth.

I have just not yet had time to get organized for our advent calendar….that is until today. Well, partially anyways.

Here’s the scoop…

I love the advent calendar. I grew up with the traditional chocolate one – even though I wasn’t a big fan of the chocolate (WHAT?!?! Yes, it’s true.).  But the countdown and the anticipation of the upcoming celebration is what gets me grinning.  I have organized a few different things for advent calendars in the past…. One has these teensy tiny board books that are also little ornaments with three pictures each day (this is a favourite and we pull it out year after year). Last year I made one up and divided lego kits with several new pieces each day.  This year will be different again.  I wanted to make something that would make memories, which would make us create space (and time) for holiday-ish stuff.  So, each day will have something for us to do together. I started by making up the advent pieces in My Digital Studio today.  Wanna see how them… They turned out pretty cute (if I do say so myself)…

Tomorrow I will print them out and write all of our activities (after I consult our family calendar), punch them out, and add the to our homemade advent calendar…then Bobs your Uncle I’ll be only a couple days behind….not too shabby.

I will try to update with a photo of the kiddos with the “final product”.
