Like snot on a doorknob

Yep, this weeks card for the As You See It Challenge sketch came together so slick.

Sketch is like this:

I knew immediately that I wanted to use it for a Christmas card, so….

Love using up scraps!  This was a great little project that can do just that.

I think the next one I won’t punch out the window, because I’m not sure that I am in love with that.  But I will definitely rip the bottom again, because I really liked that effect….though it doesn’t come across really well in the photo.

Hope you will play along with us at the AYSI Challenge this week!

Clear block stamp

I just love how crafters use what they have. A technique that was shared with me is to use your clear block as a stamp. Makes a great simple background for a one-layer card.

Have you ever used craft supplies in a way they weren’t intended?

A little bit tricky – AYSI007

I’ve been wanting to try something a little tricky and the As You See It Sketch 007 this week gave me just the opportunity.

AYSI Sketch 007 –

And my card:

I cut out the letter with the big shot Letter Dies…twas a bit tricky, but got it to work.  Lovin’ all the Chevron-goodness and the cute swirly “hi” from the Label Framelit Card Dies.

Anyways, hope you will play along with us at As You See It. I think that this sketch would also work great for an MDS page…hmmmm…maybe that’s what I’ll get up to in my spare time this weekend…

10 Weeks of Christmas – Week 1

My Project 12_2-001

Some of you might not be loving me right now…

But, I’m letting you know that today is 10 weeks until Christmas!

I am fully aware that fall just arrived but if I’m gonna be ready early this year I’m gonna start getting on the Christmas bandwagon now.

The first project that I wanted to share with you is a gift to me and my family…the gift of memory-keeping. In the past I have completed a December Daily book. This is a little memory book that holds photos and stories from every day in December.  If there is one time of year that is very busy and that can pass by too quickly it is the holidays. By snapping a photo or jotting down a special moment from your day it slows things down and helps focus on the present. pun intended 😉 If you have never tried it before I would highly recommend a December Daily book for you and your family.
For my December Daily book this year I have chosen the Seasonal Stripes Album with divided page protectors ($17.95).
I decorated the front of my album, but I may still add our family name on there somewhere too.
The divided page protectors will be great to just slip in photos or journalling cards with no extra muss or fuss.  Here they are with the Season of Style Journalling Tags ($5.95) inserted and ready.
I’m going for simple this year and I think that this will be the perfect simple solution to keep all of our favourite family memories through the holiday season. Don’t you think?
If you would like to know more about December Daily or Holiday Memory-Keeping don’t be afraid to call or email.
On another note, if you would like to start your holiday planning with a stack of great cards, then don’t forget to RSVP for the Holiday Dozen class next Thursday, October 24th at 6:30pm.  Leave with 12 cards (3 each of 4 designs). Class fee is $30 and all the supplies are provided.

First Creative Escape

This was our creative escape weekend, and what a wonderful weekend it was.

Creative Escape is an a full day of crafting and creating…away from the demands of life (ie. cooking, cleaning, children, etc.) Think of it! 13 hours of stamps, ink, games, demonstrations, prizes, friends, and fun.  Can it get much better?

Thanks to all the ladies who were able to come!
Here are a couple of photos from our day of creatively escaping…

Stick it out

I had a tough time with the sketch from As You See It this week, but I “stuck it out”….you’ll get that pun when you see the sketch –

The aspect of the card that stood out for me was the piece that was sticking out from the side of the card, but I just could not get a circle like the sketch to work for me, so I went in a different direction.

I masked off a circle around the “Thank You” and spritzed with illuminate, but it’s quite subtle.  Of course, the strip on the right is the washi tape, and where the sentiment is I instead added the Cherry Cobbler hearts. What do you think..can you see the sketch?

Autumn leaves are falling down

To the tune of wheels on the bus…
Autumn leaves are falling down, falling down, falling down, autumn leaves are falling down down all through the town.
Now that ditty is out of my system…a autumn leavest are falling down card.

It is kind of a gloomy day here today and I’m not sure if it is my outlook or if the card is actually gloomy. Does it seem too gloomy?
