Many ways to skin a cat

I began to play with the As You See It Challenge #002 sketch…

and I found that I loved it so much that I ended up using it in several ways.. as a layout for a digital scrapbooking page and then with several different cards too! Hopefully you will try the sketch and link up your project at As You See It Challenge.

For my scrapbooking page I really wanted to use one long skinny photo and then add my title as a watermark on top of the photo.  Here is what I came up with:

A waterfall photo immediately came to mind, and the good news (for me) was that I have some of those.  This photo comes from a hiking trip to Wells Gray park that we went on several years ago.   I used the Adventure Awaits stamp brush set (how appropriate) to the background.  I didn’t want too much of anything to take away from the great photo of Liam and Rosie standing at the edge of this amazing waterfall.  I will often pick out a background colour from my photo to use as one of the colours for my layout to highlight but not overwhelm. The green from the frame comes from the green of the moss.

Now onto my card…

My feeling is that this card is SO Valentine’s Day that I should NOT even embark on this project, but I couldn’t help it….if I don’t do it now I won’t remember my idea by then.

I used the romantic idea of carving initials into a tree as the inspiration for this card.   What do you think… is there any other reason to give out this card before Valentine’s Day?

  2. I think this card is a great “just because I love you” card. No occasion required, just make a special lunch that you surprise your husband with and have him take it to work. When he opens it, there is this fabulous card. You’ll warm his heart.
