Shiny… but not in time

Catherine and Cathy Create tag challenge for September was to make a tag with something shiny.  I’ve not had a lot of experience creating tags, so was not confident about this one….so I left it for the very last minute. Oops.

Shiny tag - CCC

I used the plastic bag and tag from the Goodie Gear Simply Created Kit and the stamp is from the September Paper Pumpkin Kit.  I used gold embossing powder for a punch of things including the  white Baker’s Twine.

I’m super happy with how it turned out.  I added some mini chocolate chip cookies and I’m gonna save it for a special treat for one of the kids.

Some of you may know that I attempted a photo-a-day project at the beginning of this year, just for fun. It was a great experiment…for about 3 months, then it started to slide…and the more it slid the harder it was going to be to catch up. It is one of my “failures” for the year. I say that tongue in cheek, btw. Kind of feels like a failure ’cause I didn’t’t last all year, but really it was just one of those learning opportunities.

Fast forward from March to this past Friday and I stumble upon what could be my saving grace…the weekend photography project or #twpp!
OK! Now maybe this I can handle (and maybe not too, I’m willing to accept that).

There is one prompt per week and I am supposed to take one photo over the weekend. Sounds easy enough for me. You can look forward to seeing my photos regularly on Sunday night! Of course you can play along too!
I’m thinking that at the end of the month maybe I can MDS a little page for the 4-5 pics…that’d be a good goal.

My first prompt was 9 o’clock

I thought about it several times over the weekend, but kept missing the magical time
….Until tonight 😀

At 9 o’clock at the end of  this particular week, THIS is how I feel. HA! 🙂
I have had the most jam-packed week EVAH! Life speeds up in September when hubby is away, hockey begins, and work events are at a high. Plus some sneaky extra to-dos this week, double-booking and such (of course). Alas, we have survived (fairly) unscathed.
Thanks goes out to my Mom and Grandma…and wine 🙂

Yep, Sunday too.  This is what happens when you craft at the end of the week and are late in entering all these cool challenges that I am finding.

This is a new one for me. It is called Freshly Made Sketches.  This site seems to have simple layouts that call for few extras (which is a challenge in itself).  The site asks for “clean” projects, so hopefully what I have come up with fits the bill for sketch #105:

FMS Final 105-001

Here is my take:

I decided to use the sketch as the centre of my card, and not take up the whole card with the background squares.

If I had thought another minute about the “clean” thing than I may have left off the glitter and the linen thread. What do you think?

Amanda doesn’t post on Saturdays… what’s going on?  Is it some kind of Stamping emergency?

I know that is what you are thinking because it is rather out of the norm (Read: I have never) posted on the weekend.  While I wouldn’t consider it a stamping emergency I did HAVE to share this post today because it is the last day to play with the Craft Dash #26.  I was perturbed at myself for not making it under the time frame last time, so I had to PERSEVERE!

Creating a card in under 10 minutes is heart-pumping chaos that I would say is downright dangerous for me.  If I didn’t have a heart condition before…. I will now!
I may have to video myself trying to accomplish this one of these days…it is unexplainable the panic and the flurry of activity that overtakes me and my space. Maybe I need some meditation music while I work on this…hmmmm.

The first card that I attempted with the colours (Island Indigo, Cherry Cobbler, and Basic Gray) ended up getting trashed.  There was (unplanned) torn paper and I sat my hand in the ink pad and then on white cardstock… was a disaster!

I put it all away and started again with new everything (including clean hands). And here is what I came up with:

Tag It Got Stamped

Super cute right? I am really proud that it even turned out.
I even got to add in some Chevrons (this is the crazy extra stuff that is running through my brain whilst I’ stamping like a maniac) so that I can enter it into the Catherine and Cathy Create September challenge: Chevrons!

The next unfortunate incident that occurred during this crazy process was that my cell phone died.  “Why is this a problem”, you might ask.

Well, because I am not a gym teacher I do not walk around my daily life with a stopwatch hanging around my neck like this guy ->

So, I use the app on my phone to time myself.  And if your phone dies than you’re pretty much SOL.

Luckily I did look at the time on my phone when I started and then ran into the kitchen to check the time as soon as I was finished.  My best guess is that the card took me between 9:30 and 10:30.  Which is way better than last time, so I’m pretty happy.

I checked out the Design Team cards and am gathering some more insight into what it takes to be under 10 minutes for next time. And, because I am a glutton for punishment…I will be trying again.

Note to self: Find a cool clock (with second hand) for craft studio…

Really?Challenge 4 already? We’ve been doing this for 4 weeks? Does that mean September is almost over? WHAT THE HECK?
Thanks for reading my rant…onto my project for the As You See It Challenge 004.

I have been loving using the sketches for digital scrapbooking. This week I have opted to do a card.

Those frames are from the Tag a Bag Accessory kit and they kicked off my project…so they defined my colours and the rest came along for the ride.

White wedding

My cousins wedding is coming up very soon. We had her bridal shower last weekend and had some fun with games and snacks and treats for a girls night in.  This is the shower card that I made for her.

I have to apologize for the terrible photo 😦 But it is white with Old Olive green ribbon and ink.

Did you pick up on the fact that it is supposed to look like a wedding dress? It is a very cute idea that I got off of Pinterest.
