Stamping a Scrapbook page

I realize that the card-makers with whom I hang around have adopted me as their own. But my roots are actually as a scrapbooker.  I will admit that I have not completed a traditional 12×12 scrapbook page in awhile. In fact, I have never tried stamping on a scrapbook page.  Lo and Beyond…. I have been inspired! Pssst…it may have been at Convention 😉

Without further ado…

I Freakin' Love You

I Freakin' Love You 2

I Freakin' Love You 3

My page uses the Epic Day Paper and a whole lot of the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set (Absolute must have out of the catalog) and the title is from my new Convention set – Yippee Skippee.

And if you’re eyeing up that cutout….that “I ❤ U”…it’s one of the pieces from the new Thinlits Card Dies- Available August 1st!

My first tiptoe back into scrapbooking has felt like a HUGE SUCCESS and I am ridiculously excited to do more….MUCH MORE! So stay tuned! 😀

Retrosketches #74

Inspiration from every angle these days.

For Retrosketches #74 some of the design team cut out the background shapes (in the example, it was the clouds) which made me immediately pull out my new Thinlits (Available August 1st!) to give them a try.

Carbs ShmarbsWho doesn’t LOVE that sentiment?  Wouldn’t you enjoy hearing that from someone on your birthday?  The arrows are cut out of the Modern Medley paper using the *NEW Thinlits* and the cake is from the Make a Cake set and embossed in black.  I fussy cutted the extra Pink Pirouette piece and stuck it on top of the Melon Mambo piece.  I stuck on some rhinestones and slapped on the sentiment (from Yippee Skippee).

I should mention that all the Designer Series Paper (like Modern Medley) is on sale right now until July 31st -> Buy 3 get the 4th FREE!

Golden Anniversary

I think I have recovered from #Convention2013….but maybe not quite.  I haven’t had enough time quite yet to create all the things I have been inspired to create, but it’s coming…

This weekend our family went for a little camping trip to Salmon Arm, BC and celebrated hubby’s Aunt and Uncle’s 50th wedding anniversary!

This card was my first attempt at a flip card ( see how it is standing), and it was actually really easy.

The champagne glimmer paper really takes this card to a Wow!

I know some people who would be appalled by the fact that I give cards with “naked” or un-stamped envelopes. So, for this special occasion I stepped up my game and decorated a matching envelope.

50th (2)50 years of wedded bliss is an inspiration to us all.  Happy Anniversary to Marian and Duff Turner!

Convention Day 4 Recap – WE WON!

I can’t even begin to explain how stinkin’ excited I am to tell you that

We WON the Convention Video Contest!

Yep, that’s me on the drums.  Also, you may recognize Amy Jasper as the stamper and lead vocalist, Desiree Spenst on “guitar”, Jill Buehler on the “keyboard” and Tamara Casorso on the “bass.”

Because of all of the entries, Stampin’ Up recognized their favourite four videos.  They played them, starting with fourth place, on the HUGE screens in front of 6,000 people and we won FIRST PLACE!  The absolute highlight of all of Convention 2013!!

* Team photo was taken by other  cameras – so will have to update with the photo when it is sent*

Coming down off that high was slightly difficult, however I did manage to take in some classes led by some of the fabulous Stampin ‘Up staff.  My favourite was called, Living a Creative Life with Carrie Cudney.  The thing I got most out of the class was to honour my creative spirit and to be brave.

Here I am in the Utah desert

Just kidding…. it was totally just a photo op with a cut-out

Moving along… before the last main stage presentation I thought I better get a shot of the stage….and I better add a funny face in with it 😛

Main Stage funny

The last main stage presentation was emotional and inspiring and we were sad to see it all coming to a close.  Happily there was still an ALL ATTENDEE GIVEAWAY! We all got the new Yippee-Skippee stamp set! New fave!

We ended our time together with some eats on our last night at Benihana. Here are my roomies; Sarah from Missouri, Tara from Michigan, Desiree (from up the street) and me.

Convention is a whirlwind few days, but I love every second of it.

Now it is time to go home to rest….AND STAMP! 😀

Convention Recap Day 3 – SO MUCH NEW!

This day had SO MUCH NEW that I will be having to add more info in the weeks to come.

The day began with stamping presentations on main stage. And, of course some prize patrols.  Everyone gets a bracelet (like the ones you get at a theme park) and this year they were all different Stampin’ Up colours. When your colour was chosen everyone with that bracelet wins the prize patrol.  I was Rich Razzleberry and I won a BRAND NEW product!!

thinlitsCan’t wait to play with the new Thinlits card dies to create these super fun interactive flip-flop cards in a flash when…a few more days until I get home!

They also let us know about ANOTHER brand new product that is going to help you make almost any size envelope you can think of:

Envelope Punch Board

PLUS Stampin’ Up is opening up a whole new can of creativity worms with ANOTHER brand new product called…UNDEFINED!

Undefined is a stamp carving kit where you can create your own stamps!  Logos, private jokes, or a stamp that reflects you is now just a carve away.

I particularly like the idea of carving my kids’ “signature” for their own stamp.  Truly the possibilities are ENDLESS!

All Convention there was so much to do and see and take in with make and takes, project classes, business classes, social media labs, product showcases, and on and on.  This morning I went to a couple mini project classes, here is one with some of the new items in the nearly released Holiday catalog:

I spent some time looking through all the display boards. SO MANY IDEAS….SO MANY PHOTOS….SO LITTLE TIME.  They arranged some of the cards and pages and projects on the display boards to form words like this:

Lastly, was the awards evening and the coolest moment was when Heather Cooper, fellow Kaleidoscope Stamper, was called to the stage as the only Canadian demonstrator to earn the Rising Star Award.  Congratulations Heather!

Following awards we danced the night away to the sounds of the 80s…no, seriously. It was another great day!

Convention Recap Day 2

Today is the day that Convention 2013 REALLY starts!

There is 10 of us all together here now and we all have a variety of things happening at different times today.  We arrived at the Salt Palace Convention Centre together and many of our group had a Home Office tour time of 9:30, so they lined up for the busses.  I was fortunate to be chosen to participate in a small focus group with other demonstrators and Stampin’ Up staff first thing this morning.  The only thing I can tell you is that it was about Kits.

I re-connected with Jill and hopped on the bus with her early this afternoon.  Here is how the Main Office was decorated as you entered:

Stampin' Up Home OfficeJill and I did a speed tour through the Home Office (because she had to get back to the Convention Centre for a swap).  Here are a couple photos I snapped:

The Idea Room at Home office is my favourite – a super cool, open, and creative space.  One part of the space is a whiteboard room – 3 full walls white boards and 1 glass wall.  Here is Jill writing one of many messages:

The opening mainstage presentation began at 5:30 in the evening, so we all got into our new “Be the Difference shirts and got back to the Convention Centre.  Here we are from left to right: Heather Cooper, Jill Konduc, Amy Jasper, Terry Hamilton, Holly Finney, Tamara Casorso, and myself:

Kaleidoscope Stampers Convention 2013We received our Stampin Up Convention bags, which are backpacks (photos to follow) and of course they were stuffed full of stamp sets and other goodies!

After that was the Opening Social and there was so much to do!  Including volunteering to help create birthday kits for children at Primary Children’s Medical Centre, and trying to set a World Record – Most Greeting Cards Sent Simultaneously from a Single Location!  We sent 2, 984 cards in just a couple hours and we got the Guinness World Record!

Convention Recap Day 1

Day 1 started early and ended late.

Here I am at the Kelowna International Airport

Kelowna International Airport

Can you believe my Mom got up super duper early and drove me to the airport?  She’s the best!

Convention doesn’t actually start until tomorrow, so once I arrived in Salt Lake I had a chance to visit with family. My Uncle Rod and Aunt Barb welcomed to me to their home and took me for dinner with my two cousins and their families. It was wonderful seeing them all, but I wish we lived closer together…

Here is a shot I got of the sun streaming through the clouds at the end of that first day. Gorgeous!
